green artificial grass product details - seepage, fire prevention, sturdy and soft

Dressing: this surface is built to be used with a light dressing of silica sand. A small quantity brushed into the pile after installation holds the fibre upright and sets the pace the ball comes off the court — the traditional specification for tennis and padel. The same turf can be laid unfilled where a faster, lower-maintenance surface is preferred, but on a racket court the sand is what gives the ball its predictable rebound.

Product Overview

LFL KDK crimped artificial grass is a yarn-range sports turf for tennis and padel courts. The crimped fibre gives a natural ball response and a soft, stable surface, while UV stabilizers keep colour and performance under constant sun. As factory-direct wholesale turf it is fully customizable to your court specification.

Material & Performance

The distinguishing feature of LFL014 is its KDK heat-set crimped yarn, and it changes how the surface carries load. On a sand-dressed court it is the infill that does the structural work: the sand weighs the surface down and holds the fibre upright. On a KDK crimped surface the crimp does that job instead. The yarn is heat-set into a wave, so it springs back after it is compressed and the pile recovers rather than staying flat — which is why this construction is used on unfilled and low-filled courts, and why it holds its appearance without a sand layer to top up. LFL014 is a pure crimped pile — and that is worth being precise about, because most KDK surfaces are not built this way. In a typical two-layer KDK carpet the crimped yarn sits in the lower part of the pile and a straighter fibre is layered above it. Here every fibre in the pile carries the crimp: there is no straight layer above or below. Three things follow. The recovery and the cushioning are even through the full depth of the pile rather than concentrated in one layer. The wave fills the volume, so the court reads as dense and plush at a moderate face weight. And with no layer boundary inside the pile, there is no interface where the surface can start to behave differently after a few seasons. That shows up on court in three ways. The surface feels softer underfoot and returns a softer, more natural ball response than a sand-dressed fibrillated court, which is what tennis and multi-use players expect. The crimped structure disperses impact instead of transmitting it, which is why the build is specified for school grounds, academies and community courts. And it can be installed unfilled or with only a light dressing, so a site that would rather not buy, spread and top up sand still gets a surface that stands up, looks dense and drains fast. What it gives up against a heavier fibrillated court is the sand-locked density a traditional padel surface has under hard sliding. If the project is a competition padel court, our fibrillated build is the better match; if it is tennis, multi-use or a school court where comfort and long service life come first, this is the right specification.

  • Dense tufting – high tuft density keeps the surface level, stable and consistent for ball play.
  • UV stabilizers – resist colour fading and performance loss under long outdoor exposure.
  • Quick-draining backing – lets water pass through fast so the court recovers quickly after rain.
  • Factory customization – pile height, density, colour, yarn shape, roll width and backing can all be tailored.

Key Performance Features

  • Fast Drainage – A perforated backing lets rainwater through so the court is playable again quickly after rain.
  • Spring-Back Resilience – The crimped filament returns to shape after it is compressed, so the pile stays upright through daily play without relying on infill.
  • Softer Ball Response – A crimped surface plays softer and more naturally than a sand-dressed fibrillated court, which suits tennis and multi-use play.
  • Optional Infill – Install unfilled for the lowest maintenance, or with a light silica sand dressing where a firmer, faster surface is preferred.

Why Choose LFL

LFL014 is produced on our own lines as a factory-direct wholesale item, and every parameter — pile height, gauge, Dtex, density, face weight, roll width, yarn shade and backing build — can be set for your project. Because the crimped construction holds its appearance without infill, schools and community operators save more than the sand itself: no dressing to buy, no brushing programme, no topping up as the surface settles. We quote trimmed or full rolls, run OEM and private-label programmes, and send a sample of the exact build before production.

If a quotation says “KDK”, confirm these five things

“KDK” is not one standardised product. In the trade it is used for several different yarn forms — a crimped yarn, a crimped monofilament, a diamond-section fibre, a wide flat crimped yarn — and they are not interchangeable. Two quotations can both say “KDK” and deliver two different surfaces, so it is worth pinning down what is actually being offered before you order:

  1. Which yarn form it really is. Crimped yarn, crimped monofilament, diamond or ribbed cross-section. Ask for the yarn specification sheet and the cross-section — not just the word.
  2. Yarn material and Dtex. PE is the norm for sports turf. Dtex tells you how heavy the fibre is: at the same tufting density, a higher Dtex means a thicker, more resilient yarn.
  3. Where the crimped yarn sits in the pile. Many KDK surfaces are two-layer builds — a crimped support layer with a straighter fibre above it — and the balance between the two decides how the surface recovers. LFL014 is a pure crimped pile: every fibre carries the crimp and there is no straight layer, so support and cushioning are even through the full depth of the pile.
  4. The backing build. A stabilised backing — glass-fibre reinforced or anti-shrink — is what stops a surface bubbling, rucking or delaminating over time, especially outdoors and through seasonal temperature swings.
  5. Whether the yarn suits your application. Football, hockey, gateball, kindergarten and baseball turf are specified differently. A yarn that is right for an indoor gym floor is not automatically right for a court that has to return a ball predictably.

We supply the yarn specification sheet with the quotation for LFL014. If your tender needs the cross-section or the position of the crimped structure documented, ask us and we will put it in writing. And if you already buy a yarn you are happy with, send us the specification and we will match it rather than substitute it.
