Description

LFL’s 45 mm landscape artificial grass uses a soft C-shaped yarn for a full, natural-looking lawn, and is supplied in rolls up to 15 ft (4.57 m) wide so large gardens need fewer seams. It carries an 8-year warranty.

The premium residential height

45 mm is the top of the residential landscape range. It is the height buyers choose when the lawn is the main feature of the garden and they want it to look deep and established from the day it is laid, not just tidy. The extra pile also gives more tolerance over a base that is not perfectly level, which is often the reality on a renovation.

Why the yarn is C-shaped

A C-shaped monofilament has a curved cross-section that holds a little air inside the fibre. That is what gives the pile its spring: it compresses under a foot and recovers, instead of staying flattened in the direction people walk. It also makes the surface feel softer than a flat-tape turf of the same height, which is the reason a 45 mm C-shape lawn feels closer to real grass underfoot than the number alone suggests.

15 ft rolls: fewer seams on a big lawn

Rolls run up to 15 ft (4.57 m). On a large garden or a commercial lawn, that width is what decides how many seams the installer has to make — and every seam is a place that can lift, trap dirt or show a line. Wide rolls also cut installation time, which is usually the largest single line on a landscaping quote.

Export-grade construction

The build is manufactured for export: UV-stabilised yarn, a dimensionally stable backing and a fast-draining structure so the lawn copes with heavy rain rather than holding water on the surface. That combination is what the 8-year warranty is written against.

Where it is used

Family gardens and large backyards, outdoor entertaining areas, hotel and resort lawns, show gardens and leisure spaces. It is also used where a client wants a lawn that stays green through a dry season without irrigation.

What the numbers mean

The specification is 8,200 Dtex yarn tufted at 15,700 tufts/m² on a PP + net + SBR backing, giving a 70–75 oz face weight. Dtex is how heavy the individual fibre is, tufts per square metre is how many fibres are packed into each square metre, and face weight is the two together — the number that best predicts how a lawn wears.

Worth being straight about how this build compares with a denser 40 mm lawn. The 45 mm pile gives a deeper, softer, more established look, and the lighter yarn keeps the surface soft underfoot and the cost per square metre sensible. What it gives up is density: at 15,700 tufts/m² and 70–75 oz it will not resist concentrated foot traffic as long as a 17,800 tufts/m², 80–95 oz build. So the choice is simple — if the lawn is the showpiece of a garden and mostly seen rather than trampled, 45 mm is the more impressive surface; if children, dogs and daily footfall cross it constantly, the denser 40 mm wears better.

Installation and maintenance

Lay over a compacted, free-draining base with a membrane, keep the pile direction consistent across rolls, and brush the surface up at the end so the fibre stands. After that the routine is a periodic brush, a rinse when dusty, and leaf clearance in autumn — no mowing, watering or renovation.

Frequently asked questions

Is 45 mm too long for a garden lawn?

No. 45 mm is the top of the residential range and is chosen where a deep, established look matters. It stays firm enough to walk on and to put garden furniture on, and it hides small dips in the base better than a shorter pile.

What is the difference between 40 mm and 45 mm?

45 mm looks deeper and feels softer; 40 mm is lighter and cheaper per square metre. For a main garden lawn, 45 mm is the more impressive finish; for a rental property or a secondary area, 40 mm is usually the better value.

How wide are the rolls?

Up to 15 ft (4.57 m), which is the widest standard format for landscape turf. Wider rolls reduce the number of seams and the installation time on large lawns.

Can it be installed on a roof terrace?

It can, but check the structural load first. A 45 mm turf is heavier per square metre than a short pile, so a roof or balcony project is often specified at 30–35 mm instead.

What does the 8-year warranty cover?

The 8-year warranty covers UV colour fade and fibre breakdown under normal use. Damage from sharp objects, fire, chemicals, or a base that does not drain is not covered.
